Hello everyone!!! I hope you all had a great spring break!!! Mine was great:) So I'm serving in the Guaymas Bahia B area now. My companion is Elder Sanders. He's from California and he has about 16 months in the mission. The people here in Guaymas are really friendly. The church is doing this initiative right now called Gracias a que El Vive. It's a little video online and we have these little cards to give out to people. It's been awesome! We've found a ton of new people to teach this week. We still don't have any investigators, but this next week we will. Right now we're just trying to find and talk to as many people as we can. My area has a lot of hills and small mountains so it's really pretty but it hard to walk up all the hills.... The members here are awesome! They're super kind and they love the Elders. There are tons of cholos (gangs) here though... and every single inch of the walls here are covered with grafitti. Most of the time they just paint the word "Broma" or joke. But ya... The beach is super close so that's cool, but it also stinks because it's super humid and we sweat a ton!!! Also Guaymas is bigger than Caborca so we have to take bus's a lot so it's a good oppurtunity to talk to people because they can't run away. On Saturday after the first session of general conference we went to downtown to eat some hamburgers. We were eating a a guy came and asked us for money. My companion was about to give him some, but then he told him that the money has been blessed and that if he used it to buy drugs or alcohol he could die, or something bad might happen. The guy took the money anyway. Well we were in downtown again today and we saw the same guy sitting in the middle of the street butt naked. I guess he used the money to buy drugs or something. Hahahaha Conference was awesome!!!! This was a the first conference that I actually paid attention and I loved it!!! There were so many awesome talks!!! My favorite was by Dale G. Renlund. I loved when he said that if we don't try, we're latter day sinners. It was also cool that they let those two speakers deliver their talks in Spanish. All of us gringos watched conference in English, but when those guys came on we would run into the chapel to watch it in Spanish:) Also a bunch of gringos on vacation showed up and watched it with us so that was weird.. I haven't seen gringos other than missionaries forever. I was finally able to see the Hermana Murphy. It was cool to see her after so long. She seems like she is really doing well in the mission right now:) Well that's all for this week!!! I love you all and I hope you have a great week!!! -Elder Anderson |
