TRANSFERS. So I'm heading up to Agua Prieta this transfer. That's why I'm writing so early right now. I'm in the mission offices. My bus leaves at 12 and I should get up there around 6. So, this week was great:) We were so close to baptizing on Saturday but it turns out that they aren't married so they're going to get baptized in like 2 weeks. So I'm not going to be there for it but Rodriguez will.

This week was great!! We're now in the last week of the transfer. I"m sad because one of us is leaving. These have been a really fun two transfers with Elder Rodriguez.
Well the highlight of the week was definitely the baptism of Ramsses. We had a great turnout with most of the youth in the ward coming and a lot of the family of Ramsses as well. The service was great and he shared his testimony after and it was SUPER powerful. He's totally serving a mission. Later that night we had an awesome family home evening with a couple of families both active and less active. It was a huge success! I'm studying the new testament right now and this week I read something that I really liked. It was: 2 Cor 12:9-10. 9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. I love it!!! Every challenge we face is an opportunity to respond by applying the teachings of Christ in our lives. The whole purpose of this life is CHANGE. Change to become more like Christ. His strength is made perfect in weakness. For when I am weak, then I am STRONG. So this week I got sick and it was NOT fun at all because we had to keep working. Also, we're in February and we already are almost at 100 degree weather again... So just remember that while you're all freezing over there I'm sweating over here:)
Nothing really crazy or exciting really happened this week. It was just a really solid week of work and we had a lot of success. Something that really impacted me this week was something that we read in our companionship study. It says "Every challenge you face, every hard thing you confront, every bad thing that happens to you, every unfairness, every conflict, every sadness, tragedy, every disappointment and heartache, every temptation, and every opposition happens for one purpose only: to give you an OPPORTUNITY to respond by applying in your life the teachings of Jesus. As you do so you are changed to become more like him. If you were never presented with some advantage to be gained by dishonesty, such as recognition, or money, or a better grade on a test or avoidance of punishment or embarrassment, you could never develop integrity. If no one ever offended you, you could never learn to forgive or internalize mercy. Were you never wearied by the annoying behavior of another or the repeated failures of someone else you could never become patient. Were you never subjected to the appetites and passions of the physical body for food, for water, and for sexual fulfillment you could not develop self mastery. Without opposition the plan would be frustrated, you could not progress and the purpose of life would be achievable." The purpose of this life is to become like Christ. For that reason we've been given agency to be able to act. We are constantly changing in this life. To believe that weaknesses and deficiencies in your character are unchangeable is to reject the central truth of the plan of salvation. We just have to make a decision to follow Christ and commit to it. I love the gospel and the opportunity it gives each of us to be able to change. Elder Anderson Hello fam. Sounds like your all having fun snowmobiling right now (I'm dying right now....). But I also had a great week;) On Tuesday I went on intercambios with Elder Keele. I went up to his area. We had a cool experience in the morning. All the appointments we had fell threw so we didn't really know what to do. So we decided to say a pray right there in the street asking to be able to find someone to contact and teach. Right when we opened our eyes there was a lady in front of us so I contacted her. She accepted and said we could teach her so we were able to teach her. It was an awesome answer to our prayer.
Also on Wednesday we had a fun family home evening with a couple families in the ward. We did it with two active families and two less active families. It was a great success so we're going to do it this Wednesday too. Ramses is still progressing really good. We moved his baptism back two weeks so his whole family can attend. This week in church we had a lot of less active people come to church. Something I've learned this week is the ability to find the good in every experience and learn something from it, good or bad. Tis nothing good or bad but thinking makes it so. I love the mission. We're working hard. I can't complain:) Elder Anderson So this been a really great. I honestly haven't had a bad week for like.... well ever really. Even the bad weeks are good weeks because they're opportunities to learn. This week I was able to do intercambios with Elder Garcia in his area of Balderrama. It's an interesting area because it's all old people..... So the work is kinda slow, but it was really fun. We were teaching a girl working in a bakery one time and all of a sudden a lady came out and told us that we were boring the girl that we had already said everything we need to say so we should leave now. But we were also able to find some pretty cool people to teach.
We've been teaching Ramses a lot and he's really excited for his baptism. He wasn't able to go to church this week because he was sick, but we should still be able to baptize him on Saturday. I'm getting along great with my comp. We had a fun activity today where we paid a guy to come and cook tacos al pastor in the chapel and we had a volleyball tournament. (I won of course). Now I'm just ready to start another week of work:) Gotta love the mission. Love you!! Elder Anderson |
