Hey Everyone! This week went by so fast. Lets see.... what happened... hahaha it's hard to remember but here are two cool experiences we had. The first was with an inactive member named Ramon. We received a call from a member that we should go and visit Ramon. When we arrived we didn't even knock, he just opened that door and told us to come in. He has been inactive for a while, but lately he's been feeling unsettled and uneasy so he went to church last week. After church he wanted us to come by and visit him. We shared a quick scripture and gave him a blessing. It was really cool and big act of faith on his part. I hope he and his family continue to progress. On Thursday we had intercambios con Elder Sierra y Elder Larsen. Elder Sierra stayed with my companion in our area, and I went with Elder Larsen to their area. When I heard we were going to do intercambios like that I was a little nervous. Elder Larsen and I only have 6 weeks in Mexico so we don't know a lot of Spanish, but we were ready to give it our best shot. So I stayed the night at their house and in the morning we did our studies and then we started working. Throughout the day all of our appointments fell through, we were a little bummed! We were walking in the street and this man came up to us and started talking to us in English. It turns out that Elder Larsen had met him about 3 weeks ago drunk and high. Nothing really came out of that visit, but this time he told us that since talking with the missionaries he has gone 3 weeks sober. His son died two years ago and that’s what started his drinking problem. He wants to change and he knows that we can help him. We only ended up talking to him for 10 min, but from that visit he's going to come to church and start taking lessons from the missionaries. This experience really helped strengthen my testimony of the Holy Ghost. All of our appointments fell through, but it turns out that we needed to find him at that moment. More than that he needed to find us so that he can make the necessary changes in his life so that he can be with his son again. It's crucial as a missionary to be obedient and worthy so that we can have the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. Another thing I learned yesterday was it showed me how much Spanish I actually know. We were able to teach and have conversations with people without any problems. Except with the Cholos because nobody can understand them hahahaha. I think that's all for this week. I'm doing good! The weather is cooling down a lot. I have to do my morning studies in a coat now. The church is doing a really cool initiative this Christmas season called "El es la Dádiva" or "He is the Gift". It's really cool so everyone should go online and watch the video on lds.org, and then share it with all your friends through social media. I love you all and hope you have amazing week. -Elder Anderson |
